 Pearson-Arastradero Preserve

When we think of open space preserve, we usually expect to have to drive a long way through narrow windy roads. Pearson-Arastradero Preserve (formerly Arastradero Open Space Preserve) is located just a few minutes from Hwy 280 off the Page Mill Road exit (see below for directions).

The preserve is multi-use by hikers, runners, mountain bike riders, equestrians, and dog walkers (on leash). It's not uncommon to encounter wildlife on the preserve. It's home of deer, bobcats, coyotes, mountain lions, rabbits, and many species of birds. The terrain is mostly grassland and evergreen forest. Since it's near Hwy 280, elevation of the trails varies only a few hundred feet (275' to 775 ').

There is a lake on the preserve. It's less than half hour hike from the parking lot. Fishing is possible. All California Fish and Game rules apply.

Directions:
The address is 1530 Arastradero Road in Palo Alto. From Hwy 280, take the Page Mill Road exit and go west. Make the first right turn on Arastradero Road. You'll see the parking lot on the right about 1/4 mile from Page Mill Road. The trail head is across the road.
